WHAT WE BELIEVE

Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
John 15:8

Our Biblical Foundation

At Calvary Road Baptist Church, our beliefs are anchored in the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God. The Bible is our sole authority for faith and practice, and this Statement of Faith summarizes our core convictions. Binding on all members, it guides our worship, teaching, and mission as we seek to honor Christ and advance His kingdom.

Our Core Beliefs

The Bible

The Holy Scriptures are God’s inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word, the final authority for faith and life (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21).

God

We believe in one Triune God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—eternally existing, coequal in power and glory (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19).

Jesus Christ

The eternal Son of God became man, born of a virgin, died for our sins, rose bodily, and will return visibly to establish His kingdom (John 1:1-14; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit convicts, regenerates, indwells, and equips believers for ministry, though sign gifts have ceased (John 16:8-11; 1 Corinthians 13:8-10).

Humanity

Created in God’s image, humanity fell through Adam’s sin, is totally depraved, and unable to save itself (Genesis 1:26-27; Romans 3:23).

Salvation

Salvation is by grace through faith in Christ’s atoning death, securing eternal life for believers (Ephesians 2:8-9; 1 Peter 1:18-21).

Security of Believers

True believers are eternally secure in Christ and will persevere, assured by God’s Word (John 10:27-29; 1 John 2:3).

The Church

A local body of baptized believers, autonomous and tasked with worship, evangelism, and edification (Acts 2:41-42; Ephesians 4:11-16).

Ordinances

We practice believer’s baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper as memorials of Christ’s work (Matthew 28:19; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26).

Christian Living

Believers are called to holy living, separated from worldly practices and religious apostasy (Romans 12:1-2; 2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1).

End Times

Christ will return to rapture believers, followed by a seven-year tribulation and His millennial reign (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 20:1-6).

Eternal State

The saved will rise to eternal life, the unsaved to eternal punishment (John 5:28-29; Revelation 20:11-15).

Satan

A real person, the enemy of God, destined for eternal punishment with his demons (Isaiah 14:12-17; Revelation 20:10).

Creation

God created the universe in six literal days, rejecting evolution and related theories (Genesis 1-2; Exodus 20:11).

Civil Government

God ordains the home, church, and state, each with distinct roles under His authority (Romans 13:1-7; 1 Peter 2:13-14).

Marriage and Sexuality

Marriage is between one man and one woman; sexual activity outside this is sinful (Genesis 2:24; Hebrews 13:4).

Sanctity of Life

Human life begins at conception; abortion is the unjustified taking of life (Psalm 139:13-16; Jeremiah 1:5).

Missions

We are commissioned to proclaim the Gospel globally, supporting missions at home and abroad (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 1:8).

Authority of Our Statement

While the Bible is our ultimate authority, this Statement of Faith accurately represents its teachings and is binding on all members. All literature and teaching in our church align with these beliefs, ensuring unity in doctrine and practice.

Our Covenant

As members of Calvary Road Baptist Church, we covenant to walk together in Christian love, strive for the advancement of our church in knowledge and holiness, and promote its spiritual vitality. We commit to supporting our church through prayer, tithes, and offerings, maintaining personal and family devotions, and seeking the salvation of others. We pledge to live godly lives, avoid sinful practices, and watch over one another in brotherly love, all to advance the kingdom of our Savior.
