“WHO DO YOU TRUST?”
Jeremiah 17.5
1A. THE PROBLEM OF LONELINESS 1B. The way it used to be - Genesis 2.18 2B. The way it came to be - Genesis 2.17; 3.9-13; 4.8 2A. THE SINFUL SOLUTION TO LONELINESS 1B. Make friends 2B. Make lots of friends 3B. Make friends you can trust. But what do you find? Psalm 41.9 3A. THE SAVING SOLUTION TO LONELINESS 1B. Open your eyes. Being lonely has nothing to do with being alone. Friends do not cure loneliness. They only cure being alone, which is different. 2B. See what the problem is. Because you are dead in trespasses and sins you are hopelessly isolated from the one who can address your loneliness, Ephesians 2.1; Job 16.21. 3B. You are in need of the only friend who takes away loneliness, Proverbs 18.24, instead of being friendly with what God hates, James 4.4. 4B. If the Lord Jesus Christ becomes your Savior several things will happen: 1C. He will forgive your sins and give you eternal life, Romans 6.23. 2C. He will give you the Holy Spirit to live with you and in you, Romans 8.9. 3C. He will never leave you nor forsake you, Hebrews 13.5. |
