“THE LITMUS TEST OF A RELIGION”
Colossians 2.8-10
The teaching of any religion can be analyzed to see whether it be true or whether it be false. How? By analyzing the religious belief in two ways. 1A. THE FIRST WAY YOU ANALYZE THE VALIDITY OF A RELIGION IS BY BEING CRITICAL Our Critical Analysis Involves Three Questions 1B. The first question is . . . What is the result of the teaching? Verse 8. Paul writes, "Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit." 2B. The second question is . . . What is the origin of this teaching? Paul writes . . . "after the tradition of men." 3B. The third question is . . . What is the subject of their teaching? What do they talk about in their so-called Bible studies? Paul wrote, ". . . after the rudiments of the world." How would we summarize this critical analysis of false religions? Paul summarized at the end of verse 8 by writing "and not after Christ." 2A. BUT THERE IS ANOTHER WAY TO DETERMINE THE VALIDITY OF A RELIGIOUS SYSTEM, BY COMPARISON Compare what they teach about the person of Christ with what Paul teaches about the person of Christ. 1B. First, compare their teaching on Christ relative to the Godhead 2B. Second, are you complete in Christ? "And ye are complete in Him, which is the head of all principality and power." |
