THE MOTIVE IS LOVE
Second Corinthians 5.14-15

1A.  First, PAUL RECOGNIZED THAT THE MOTIVE WAS STRONG

“For the love of Christ constraineth us...”

1B.    This phrase is a complete thought. Look at it as if it were a complete sentence.

2B.    The subject of the sentence is love.

3B.    The verb of the sentence is constraineth.

4B.    Notice, the object of the thought is us.

2A.  Second, PAUL REALIZED THAT MAN'S MALIGNANCY WAS UNIVERSAL

or to put it another way, the massacre of sin upon humanity was total.

1B.    Paul arrived at his conclusion by judging the evidence.

2B.    Look at Paul’s conclusion again.  “Then were all dead.”

3A.  Finally, PAUL REALIZED THAT THE METHOD WAS EFFECTIVE

1B.    Christ’s method was to die for all men. The result was life.

2B.    Notice the phrase “they which live.” That phrase points out that not all men live as a result of Christ’s death on the cross.

3B.    Next, we have a description of the life.
