GLORY NOT IN MEN
First Corinthians 3.18-23

Be careful, those of you who love the idea of having your own special relationship with some preacher, that you don’t let it develop into a problem.  Remember, the Corinthians loved having their own private relationships with preachers not their pastor.  And the spiritual leaders they chose were truly great and godly men.  But what was it they were doing, really?  They were glorying in men.  Such glorying in men, we will see in the passage before us, is wrong.

There are two truths which support this conclusion.

1A.  THE TRUTH ABOUT WORLDLY WISDOM ON THIS SUBJECT OF GLORYING IN SPIRITUAL LEADERS (18-20)

1B.  What do we know about worldly wisdom?  It’s foolish.

2B.  Well, what else do we know about worldly wisdom?  It’s vain.

2A.  THE TRUTH ABOUT GOD’S WISDOM AS IT RELATES TO THIS ISSUE OF GLORYING IN HUMAN LEADERS (19-23)

1B.  As to reaction . . . refuse.  Refuse to glory in men.

2B.  Then, as to reality . . . recognize.  Recognize certain spiritual truths.
